This might be too in depth but I've been searching and dreaming and I cannot find it, so please help. Looking for something set during the Cloud Recesses lectures, the general idea is Lan Zhan makes a move on Wei Wuxian, is seen by Jiang Cheng, and while WWX is into it, and it's relatively tame, Lan Zhan is still being a Top and they're being their WangXian selves, so Jiang Cheng thinks Wei Wuxian is getting taken advantage of. Enter Good Brother Jiang Cheng, he's defending Wei Wuxian's honor, demanding the Lan Clan take responsibility. Drags all three of them in front of Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen. Lan Zhan tries to accept punishment, Wei Wuxian explains that he was an enthusiastic participant, although not the instigator. Jiang Cheng says well Lan Wangji must take responsibility, he has besmirched my brothers honor, he has to marry him. WangXian are down but Lan Qiren won't allow it, is rude about Wei Wuxians character and status. Lotus Pier delegation turns up, JFM is concerned, Madam Yu is pissed at the disrespect of the Lan Clan, Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli are in an absolute tizzy, furious, and in full guard dog mode trying to take care of Wei Wuxian, who is experiencing heartbreak at being told he can't marry Lan Zhan, misses Lan Zhan, and also it feels very unfair that he got yelled at for getting kissed. Jiang Fengmian is mostly worried that WWX was SA'd, Jiang Cheng was kind of incoherent in his letter. He is surprised but supportive that his ward is in love. Madame Yu is mostly thinking about the Lans insulting the Jiangs by tarnishing the honor of their head disciple and then refusing to take responsibility, but when she actually gets the story from WWX himself, he can't even keep it together when he's usually very cautious around her, and she's like oh shit he's actually in love, he's not even smiling. She can't even be a jerk to him about it, doesn't really say anything to him but internally she's like This Will Not Stand. No drawn out angst, just a little for flavor, bonus points for Lan Zhan visibly pining. In the end, after getting shouted down by the Jiangs and his nephews, Lan Qiren agrees to allow WangXian to be engaged.
